HC / Aspect of Lion doesn't prevent pet aggression

Tl;dr - pets will attack you if you sneeze. It's triggered by hostile actions as in any action you take, as a hostile? I had edited the wiki page to reflect the actual behavior but maybe this is a bug.
Trial 1: attacking a non-PM:
The PMs aren't even in the same faction! Note that the aspect itself never faded or was dismissed. That would look like:
But the Lion equivalent doesn't even show when switching aspects:
(also note Lion was requiring renewal MP at one minute 45 seconds, not the 5 min in wiki. The status says 1 minute when you activate it.)
