Ok, hear me out. Crushed some soul ice, so I was sitting on 60 MP or something, to unleash a bunch of keening of the damned.
Had already hit Wassail with Phantasmal terror to steal their MP to use for AOE. The below happened.

- a veterinary care assistant summoned a Hellhound. (2022-06-02 11:27:25).
- You crush the Soul Ice in your hand. As you do so, you feel its dark magic seep through you, restoring your magic. (2022-06-02 11:27:26).
- a veterinary care assistant summoned a Hellhound. (2022-06-02 11:27:29).
- You tapped into the nightmares of Wassail and drained 15 MP from them. (2022-06-02 11:27:32).
- Fenris attacked Alexei Danilov with a Fangs , killing him! (2022-06-02 11:27:32).

So when I clicked Keening of the damned, red writing popped up for me saying "you don't have enough MP to use this", and then didn't go off in the SH, but as we can see, it also drained MP from Wassail.

So I had enough MP (cos I had crushed soul ice), Wassail had enough MP as well, but it didn't cast properly, and also still used MP (and I think AP as well, but can't confirm).

Still happening:
You can see below that I hit Takeda with the Phantasmal terror, and I after that I had 20 MP, then when I tried to cast my first AOE i got the "you don't have the MP to use that" red writing, (even though I had 20MP), and Takeda got drained of 15 MP (in the same way he would if the keening was successful), then the next 2 worked (but didn't steal any MP, cos I think he was out of phantasmal terror status).

- You attack Takeda with your Arctic Bolt spell and hit for 0 points of cold damage. The attack left a lingering chill! This attack was laced with darkness and mind-warping shadows! They were protected by a halo that crackled and spat arcs of lightning! You take 5 points of electric damage! (2022-06-09 11:35:31).
- You tapped into the nightmares of Takeda and drained 4 MP from them. (2022-06-09 11:35:31).
- You feel your demonic fury drain your blood, yet the effect bolsters your willpower. (2022-06-09 11:35:31).
- You crush the Soul Ice in your hand. As you do so, you feel its dark magic seep through you, restoring your magic. (2022-06-09 11:35:34).

- You tapped into the nightmares of Takeda and drained 15 MP from them. (2022-06-09 11:35:37).
- (2 times) Mango summoned a Ghoul. (2022-06-09 11:35:39).
- Fenris attacked A Very Annoying Lightspeaker with a Fangs , killing him! (2022-06-09 11:35:41).
- You allow the miseries of the dead and damned to flow through your mind, weaving within the miseries a bit of your own magic to project them from your mind into the physical world. Suddenly, a piercing shriek rises in your throat and escapes your lips, seeming to infiltrate into every corner of the area. Your attack affected 36 characters and/or pets and killed 1 character, Takeda. Total damage done was 136, total effective soaks were 32, total ignored soaks were 0, and total applied soaks were 0. (2022-06-09 11:35:51).

Also phantasmal terror doesn't seem to work if you put it on multiple people, it just lets you draw off the most recent person, and none of the others (even once the first person has no MP left).
