Strongholds: Hostile Takeover

Post by Goliath »

After a faction A captures the flag from faction B, a lieutenant from A can move their current SH to faction B's downed SH location, provided their ward is intact and the costs from revoking and setting a SH are paid.
A Hostile Takeover is broadcast to every character, and causes the ward and fortifications from faction A to be half as effective for 24h.

Disagree with weakening the ward. Seems like punching down on someone who already lost.

A discount on setting up the Stronghold (EX: Not needing to pay the revoke cost) and a bonus on the old tile (EX: Something like Emergency Bunker, so people who get caught idle in the old stronghold location don't get killed) would be better I think.

This skill isn't one for the loser to change places, but for the winner to steal the stronghold location.
The halved strength ward/forts is for said winner faction, so it's easier to recover said location.

Oh.
Well, that brings a new question to mind. Why are we discouraging hostile takeovers?

Also since we're on this topic, what happens to Emergency Bunkers?

This skill would enable hostile takeovers (as you cannot normally take over a location after capturing a flag, because that locks your SH for 24h).
I don't have a good answer for Emergency Bunker, other than possibly a random tile around old SH, broadcasted to the faction upon creation.

Maybe it would be easier to just remove this from the game.

Immediately revokes SH to avoid a recap.

The 24 hour block on revoking after capturing a flag is there to keep factions from capturing flags and then immediately making themselves impossible to retaliate on.
