Gameplay: Breath Achievement Badge Rework

Post by SignedName »

The use of Career Achievement Badges for renown rewards has got me thinking about maybe finding a way to make it so badge grinds can be more repeatable. They are to an extent with Breath Achievement Badges, but those only cover the two end-tier badge grinds and not the ones before that (and also I'm unsure whether those even count for earning Renown/XP). So this is where this suggestion comes in- scrap the current system of Breath Achievement Badges in favor of a system where you can "awaken" dormant Career Badges you've already gotten.

Simply put, have Career Badges proc their renown/XP rewards under two possible conditions- when reaching a career milestone, or when reaching a breath milestone. To avoid double-dipping, badges are considered "dormant" or "awoken". Badges earned in a previous breath are considered Dormant, and use Breath stats to proc, and become Awoken after proccing, unable to be procced again until the next breath/character reset. Career badges earned in the current breath start out as Awoken, meaning you cannot get the rewards for the badge again using Breath stats. This distinction could even be represented in the UI (bold text, color coding*, etc.) so you can see which badge grinds you've completed in the current Breath. Also, this alleviates the need to come up with new badge names each breath, and a possible issue of overcrowding of the badge section on the character page.

*color coding could even be expanded in use to also differentiate exploration badges visually from the rest
