Skills: Way of the Brawler Rework

Post by SignedName »

Instead of (or in addition to?) making non-light weapons throwable, have Way of the Brawler's ability be to make thrown and melee weapons use the HtH tree if its accuracy is higher. Additionally, give Brawlers the ability to use inventory items (Chunks of Steel, Arrows, Bottles, FAKs, etc...) as improvised melee weapons. Fits more in line with the ES's focus on HtH/generalist weapon user, as well as the theme of the skill itself (brawling).

While I do think Way of the Brawler is a bit silly as-is, I don't know why you'd remove it and wreck all of ES's Thrown Weapon support. If anything, I'd say one should give Eternal Soldier more support for that.

If anything, this change increases thrown weapon support by giving it two potential trees to pick from. As it works currently, Brawler just encourages you to lug around a Rifle solely to throw rather than actually shoot (just using a Sling is still better anyway though).

Brawler is kind of a silly skill that was added like a month before launch on the whim of bob just FYI. Doesn't mean it can't be something more. ES being the weapons generalist (good in multiple mundane trees, probably by cheating the second one out) is something I'm interested in, but haven't thought of the best coherent approach. Especially because ES doesn't really have melee/throwing support.

Making a nonweapon item act as a weapon is just a mountain of work under the hood for a gimmick skill.
