Enchanted item stacking

While out with my enchanted sword I picked up a non-enchanted sword both of the same level of deterioration and they stacked. Is there a way this could be done so magical (enchanted) items don't stack even items of the same degree of breakdown?

Yeah that would be nice. Imagine having 3 pristine leather jackets and having to drop 2 at a time to work out which one needed a chont replaced! And then passing the right jacket back to the right person is another task.
