I understand why the current system is in place. Obviously it's no fun if an LS or lich rolls up to a boss and schmoes it before anyone else can do anything.
I think that the current system is nonetheless a step too far. I have a WM and a Lich, presently. Nothing is more frustrating than setting up a horde of tentacles or bone guardians on a contested tile only to have them die to wandering minibosses before they even touch another player. (That's actually part of why I refunded Tentacles, but that's another discussion.) I don't feel like I should have to go mow the lawn ahead of what I actually want to do, either.
Is there something less severe than "completely ignoring a boss" that can be implemented? Maybe soaking pet damage or even ignoring every other attack? Would love it if so!
Gameplay: Pets should be able to contribute to boss fights
Re: Gameplay: Pets should be able to contribute to boss fights
Brainstorming ideas:
- minibosses could ignore pets altogether ("a pact of mutual indifference" ), although I feel like it would be an imbalance in opposite direction
- pets could have permanent soak or dodge bonus against minibosses
- pets could target minibosses normally but easily "lose attention" - randomly switch to other targets or do nothing
That's all I could think of quickly.

Appreciate the thoughts!
I would love the second or third options; either would introduce more interactibility and would be useful in the event a PM actually does wanna fight a miniboss.

I actually wish pets could just attack NPCs and other such stuff
I'm not sure why they can't, is it to prevent petmasters from killing too many NPCs? I suppose that could happen while they're leveling up, but when they max out they'll probably prefer to stay in their SH to defend it. And the xp cap should discourage them from killing too many NPCs anyway.
