Character Point Adjustments

Post by Liche »

Greetings all!

In a game as complex as Nexus Clash it is inevitable that bugs will creep in. One of those bugs is that roughly 35 characters possess an incorrect amount of Character Points — a few have too few and many have too many.

It's important to point out, this is the result of oddness associated with rolling out the skill buyback system. As well, when boss monster kill badges were normalized to 10 CPs for all badges (instead of 5/10/15 CPs), some weirdness may also have been introduced. No player incorrectly or unfairly managed to get ahold of Character Points: any character that has an incorrect amount of CPs is purely the result of a bug.

I consider an "incorrect amount of character points" to be a situation where a given character has too many (or too few) CPs based on their level, rank, exploration badges, and boss monster kills. If you got a double badge for something (like getting the Icicle Assassin badge for landing the killing blow against the Queen of Ice), that's something I will adjust. If two or more characters happened to get the Icicle Assassin badge at the same time, in the same fight that is not something that will be adjusted.

Over the next few weeks I will be going over all of these characters and confirming their own specific situations. I will prepare a detailed report of how many CPs the character should have based on the above criteria, compare that to how many the character currently has (based on the skills and spells they currently have), and then inform the player of the coming adjustment.

If the character is owed Character Points, you'll get them added to your character. If the character has too many Character Points (for example, the character should have a total of 750 CPs but has 850 CPs worth of skills and spells) then an adjustment will be made; namely, CPs will be deducted. I will ask the character's player which skills they would like removed, and those skills will be removed (as long as the Tier requirements are properly maintained). If a character is carrying enough of a surplus of unspent CPs where skill removal is not necessary, then the surplus will be adjusted instead of removing skills. For example, a character should have no more than 600 CPs of skills and spells due to their level, rank, etc. but has a CP total of 750. The character has only spent 100 CPs on Mortal skills, so there is no need to require a skill removal since the CP total can simply be reset to 600 with no ill effect.

I will reach out to each affected character via Credit Message. This will be to point out I have sent a forum message to your account with my findings. The forum message will have all the details, my interpretation of the findings, and the next steps.

Every affected player will be a part of this process. If you disagree with my findings, you will have plenty of chance to talk with me about it and we will together figure out what to do. Ignoring my messages and offers to talk about the situation will not stop an adjustment. If I don't hear anything back from a given player in a reasonable time frame (let's say a week) then I will assume the player completely agrees with my findings and I will proceed appropriately (and I will prune skills).

My intention is to handle those characters who are missing Character Points first. Those are, generally speaking, the easier cases, and players who are missing Character Points are not likely to dispute that.
